Nature, the green mass that rolls past the train window, it fills the void between cities, a complex construction where minimal inventory provides maximum diversity. Nature is too extensive to fully understand, nature cannot be influenced by argument, nature is unassuming but without fear. In a time of tension and polarization, war and disease, I seek security in nature's indifference to the human condition.

In his first solo exhibition at Katrineholm's Konsthall, David Taylor portrays nature as a system that creates diversity from a few simple components. A finely calibrated phenomenon whose response is controlled.

This floor piece is made using by introducing folds into sheet aluminum to produce a graphical representation of the pond in the vicinity of my house. The contours of the pond are as seen through the lens of Google Earth. Anodized aluminium sheet 350X240cm

A wall mounted digital clock, its large format, 120X100cm creates an immediate focal point, the hypnotic pulsing as the passage of time is recorded and the suggestion of a crucifix in its form.

“With a simple material palette and a vital design language, David Taylor creates a striking visual alchemy when he dismantles the boundary between interior and exterior, between nature and culture.”
